Open Studio
with Keeping Six
Open Studio is a weekly community arts program led in partnership by Keeping Six, Open Heart Arts Theatre, and Theatre Aquarius. It’s a place for people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity to spend time together, try something creative, and explore their own ideas alongside professional artists.
Each week, we’ll explore a different art form through workshops led by guest artists, with time to keep making and developing ideas with Open Heart facilitators. Along the way, participants will have opportunities to develop their own creative work and share it with others through a public showcase at Theatre Aquarius.
No previous arts experience is needed, and there’s no expectation to be a “good” artist.
Come by, try something new, make something of your own, or simply spend some time in the space.

How does it work?
Guest artists will lead workshops every other week, introducing participants to different artistic practices. On the weeks in between, participants can continue working on projects and ideas with support from consistent Open Studio facilitators.
Fall 2026: Explore
Winter–Spring 2027: Create
Participants who are interested will have the opportunity to work with professional artist-mentors to develop their own creative projects.
May 15-16, 2027: Share
The season will culminate in a public showcase at Theatre Aquarius, celebrating the work created throughout the program and bringing participants, community members, and Hamilton audiences together.
After the showcase, participants can wrap up their projects, reflect on their experience, and explore opportunities to continue participating in the arts.
